A Walk in the Woods

September 29, 2010

On a hot, steamy late September afternoon, I met lovely Catherine and her mom in a beautiful forest right in the middle of Houston. It was incredibly humid, after having showered here and there a few minutes earlier. . . but the sun and steam made for some divine lighting! I found a lot of sun flare, which I have wanted to experiment with for some time. Catherine was the perfect subject:  a free spirit, she doesn’t take herself too seriously. This is my assessment of her! Well, I do sort of know her a little bit. She was my student in 8th grade. I adored her then and still do. She really, really seems in tune with who she is and what she wants. You’re one step ahead of a lot of people, Catherine, including many adults! Smart girl, pretty girl, down-to-earth girl=success. I don’t like the fact that she will most likely be far away at college (sniff, sniff, Allison, I know you hear me on this!) in a few months, but I am at peace with the fact that Catherine has it together and is almost ready for her next phase in life. It’s such the perfect time to photograph someone–when they are on the verge of crossing over into another segment of life. I truly believe photographs capture this transition in the best light, so to speak. Here is Catherine in this moment:

The holidays will be here before you know it! Think ahead and book a photo session for your holiday cards. And if you want us to make your cards, too, we can do that. Take a look at what we have to offer this year (Please note:  All wording and colors can be changed to fit your taste):

Lollipop, lollipop!

September 6, 2010

I love this sweet family! I’ve photographed the girls for several years now, and they just get prettier and prettier. Mom is genius to bring colorful, yummy lollipops to the shoots as bribery for these sweet girls (bribery? The girls were so good, they really didn’t need them. However, the lollipops make for great props in the photos).

I adore my loyal families! It’s a great pleasure to see the children grow up right in front of my camera. Love you guys!

Here’s a sneak peek:

Wes was such a good sport to agree to lie on the grass with his girls. See, I told you it would be a great shot!

Precious Lucy! Oh, I hope I got this one right, Jenny! If this is Caroline I will be so disappointed in myself!

And this is sweet Caroline, yes? Love this picture!

I always love the shots of beautiful mama with her babies. Priceless!

Big sis Molly and little sis Caroline hamming it up for the camera. ( Jenny, please tell me if I got the twins mixed up!)
